Artist Proposal 2

My plan for the second project is focusing on the Contextualizing Concept; the "understanding of something in (and out of) its proper time and place due to environmental and situational factors involved". I had no idea as to what I could do for this for the longest time, but eventually, it hit me. My mind thought of the idea of dinosaurs possibly still being alive. From there I went into some research.

The one dinosaur that had stood out to me the most was a theropod dinosaur called the Spinosaurus (Spine Lizard). The Spinosaurus was by far one of the biggest of all carnivorous dinosaurs; it's even larger than the famous tyrannosaurus rex. It was 20 feet tall and 18 meters long, weighing in about 9 tons while the Rex was about the same height, but only 16 meters long and weighs only at 6 tons.

The Spinosaurus skull is long and narrow, similar to that of a modern crocodile. It has also been known to have eaten fish, and most scientists believe that it hunted both on land and in the water; as studies have shown that bones of both land and water-dwelling creatures have been found wedged in its teeth and in its stomach. The name of this fearsome beast comes from the distinctive sail that can be seen on its back. That sail was simply extended vertebra from the spine, attached together with skin to form said appearance.

The main reasoning for this creature going extinct was the loss of it's hunting grounds (rivers and lakes) due to global warming drying up the water. The Spinosaurus was not fully meant to hunt on land and was the king of the sea at the time, so when the water dried up and they were forced to hunt on land, they had gained a rival that was more accustomed to the environment and way of hunting. Never having a rival before, the Spinosaurus tended to both win and lose against fights over food. They would get said rival off the food, but the bites they got inflicted during the fight would severely disable them and ultimately lead to their death sometime later on (a slow painful death).

What I want to accomplish in my art piece is simply to imagine what life would be like if this dinosaur were to come back or still be alive. Doing all with acrylic paint again.

I will use these pictures below (and the one above + video) to help guide me in my work:

Thinking Skill: Analyzing Perspectives (Final Project)

I sat here looking through other artist's work, and I couldn't come up with anything for a while now. The project that I'm doing...
